We had one of the
best performances ever in a tournament in Florida. Today at the Copa America Nationals in Lakeland, FL we took 8 athletes
for Gi and No Gi. We got 6 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze. We fought 27 times being 21 wins and only 6 losses. PROUD OF EVERYONE!! Kane (2 Golds), James (Silver), Andrew (Bronze), Gage (2 Golds),
Ian (Bronze), Sean (Gold & Silver), Brandon (Bronze) and Thadeu.

Jake Bohn 155lb and Mike Laduke 170lb both won in the Second Round by
Referee stoppage in Rutland, Vermont at the "Kaged Kombat". Jake is 2-0 and this was Mike's debut.

Florida came up strong at the 2010 Florida Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu State Championship with 21 athletes and the support of
students from the WBJJA Virginia, Mississippi and Arkansas. We obtained 8 Gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze medals! Congratulations

I was 34 and feeling blah. I did not have a consistent exercise routine, and I was looking for
a way to get fit. One preference was that it was something my husband and I could do together. I wanted something challenging
and interesting, something that works the body and mind. I also knew I needed something that would provide structure
and require a commitment. The little yellow sign on the side of Tuttle Avenue caught my eye. Hmm, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

The WBJJA Nokomis, FL was invited to demonstrate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the 2010 Jogathon at the
Island Village Montessori School in Venice, FL. Everyone had a lot of fun and we were proud to be there in the last two
days.
On Feb 5, 2010 Rafael Moreno from VSJJ (WBJJA) become the first MMA Champion in Puerto Rico. After 2 years of several events in the area the Puerto Rico Sports and Recreation Comission
developed the first ever MMA belt. Matching the top 2 contenders in the area Rafael Moreno and Mike Eroza, a Beahring
BJJ Purple belt and condecorated
wrestler. After 3 intense rounds of pure action Moreno defeats Mike by unanimous decition.
We had this past weekend the final edition of the 2009 WBJJA Florida Ranking. It was a stunning
display of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques. Congratulations to all participants and specially for the Ranking winners which
will be awarded with trophies in a ceremony in January 2010. Before the event started Professor Thadeu Vieira and Paulo Pagels
were promoted to 2nd degree black belt. According to the IBJJF/CBJJ only 2nd degree black belts can advance rank of students

tournament. Most of the competitors drove at least an hour or more to compete at the tournament. We are hoping to do it again
next year.
Great job at the Kent Open last weekend. We brought 14 athletes and got 5 medals.
That was the first time competing for the majority of our guys. Over all the WBJJA had 34 fights = We won 22 and lost 12 =
65% of wins, which is a great result! Thanks to instructors Dale and Paul for the outstanding work.
